I let an astrologer read my chart blind. I took notes.
Theo (saturn_returns) offered to read my chart knowing nothing but my birth date, time and place. Being who I am, I recorded it and scored every claim afterward: hit, miss, or too vague to count.
Results: a lot of vague. A couple of clear misses (I am not 'secretly theatrical'). A handful of hits I'd expect from anyone who has met an engineer.
And one I can't shake. He said my Moon in the 4th house suggests I show love by fixing things for family. Last winter I spent forty hours restoring my farmor's broken mantel clock. I've never mentioned that here.
It doesn't prove anything. One data point is an anecdote. But I went home and wound the clock, and it felt like more than maintenance.
I went outside to look at the moon on purpose
Small thing, but I'd never actually done it before. Not glanced at it from the car. Went outside, on purpose, to look.
Phone stayed on the kitchen counter. I stood at the end of the driveway in my socks for maybe ten minutes while it climbed over the roof across the street, almost full, a little orange at first and then very white. A dog two yards over barked at it, or at me. Hard to say.
I didn't think anything profound. Mostly I noticed how long it's been since I stood still outdoors for no reason. Reading this place, I keep finding the same instruction in a dozen different traditions: pay attention. This was me trying it.
Feet were freezing. Doing it again tomorrow.
The flower that waited for me
I have the late watering shift at the university greenhouse, and there's a night-blooming cereus in the succulent room that flowers maybe one night a year. Nobody knew which night.
Wednesday, 11:40pm, I walked in and the whole room smelled like vanilla and something like oranges. The flower was open, bigger than my hand, glowing white under the one security light, with the moon right behind it through the glass roof.
I know the science: night bloom, pale petals, strong scent, it's all for the moths. I wrote it up properly in my lab notebook, Latin name and everything. But I also stood there and said thank you out loud, because it felt like it had waited for me. By 7am it had closed for good.
