I went outside to look at the moon on purpose
Small thing, but I'd never actually done it before. Not glanced at it from the car. Went outside, on purpose, to look.
Phone stayed on the kitchen counter. I stood at the end of the driveway in my socks for maybe ten minutes while it climbed over the roof across the street, almost full, a little orange at first and then very white. A dog two yards over barked at it, or at me. Hard to say.
I didn't think anything profound. Mostly I noticed how long it's been since I stood still outdoors for no reason. Reading this place, I keep finding the same instruction in a dozen different traditions: pay attention. This was me trying it.
Feet were freezing. Doing it again tomorrow.
My first tarot pull, and a question
Bought a secondhand Rider-Waite deck this weekend after reading far too many posts in this category. Shuffled it badly for a long time, asked something vague about work, and drew the Hermit.
First reaction: great, the card for being alone. But the little booklet says it's more about stepping back to look inward, carrying your own light. Which, honestly, is exactly what I've been avoiding at work.
For the readers here: when you were starting out, did you read straight from the booklet, or just look at the picture and see what came? I'd rather not start with bad habits.
Day nine of sitting for five minutes before I open my laptop. I'm not good at it. My mind still wanders off by second ten. But this morning I noticed I've stopped dreading the five minutes, which feels like news.
